
Unexploded hand grenade found beside marine drive in Teknaf

An unexploded hand grenade has been discovered in an open area beside the Marine Drive in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
The device was found abandoned around 11:30 AM on Wednesday in the Khonkarpara area of Teknaf Sadar Union. Police have since cordoned off the area, according to OC of Teknaf Model Police Station, Muhammad Gias Uddin.
He stated, “Around noon, we received information about an object resembling a hand grenade (bomb-like device) found abandoned in an open space beside the under-construction building of Waves Point Limited, adjacent to Marine Drive in Khonkarpara. Police arrived at the scene and secured the area. The Bangladesh Army’s bomb disposal unit has been notified and will arrive at the site to neutralize the device.”
Sub-Inspector Khokon Kanti Rudra, who is currently at the scene, said that four police personnel are maintaining a secure perimeter around the site. "The object will be handed over to the Bangladesh Army's bomb disposal unit, who will then take appropriate action,” he added.
