Tk 45,000 fined in joint drive at Betagi

A special joint drive by the police and Navy in Betagi, Barguna, resulted in fines totaling Tk 45,000. The operation targeted traffic law violations, during which eight motorcyclists were fined Tk 35,000 and one motorcycle was seized.

The drive was conducted on Tuesday (April 29) from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at a check-post set up in front of Shapla Chattar in the municipal town. Motorcyclists were penalized under the Road Transport Act 2018 for offenses including violation of traffic rules, illegal roadside parking, riding without helmets, and driving without licenses.

The operation was led by Navy Sub-Lieutenant Yasir Arafat.

At the same time, a mobile court was conducted under the leadership of Betagi Assistant Commissioner (Land) Bipul Sikder at the Betagi-Kachua ferry terminal. An additional Tk 10,000 fine was imposed for overcharging vehicles during ferry crossings.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Bipul Sikder ssid, such drives will continue. The administration is always prepared to bring offenders under the purview of the law.
