10-yr old convict held, kidnapped woman rescued in two operations in Pirgachha

The arrested convict was sent to court on Monday and the rescued young woman is currently at the Victim Support Center.
Earlier, on April 27, a 10-year-old convict, Md. Asaduzzaman, was arrested from Dhaka's Mohakhali area. He is the son of Atiur Rahman of Nayapara village in Kaikuri union of Pirgachha upazila.
According to police sources, Asaduzzaman was absconding after being released on bail after serving a long prison term in a case filed under the Arms Act by the DMP Bhatara police station. Later, the court sentenced him to 10 years in rigorous imprisonment and an arrest warrant was issued against him. A special team of Pirgachha Police Station led by SI Shafiqul Islam Akand arrested Asaduzzaman from Mohakhali, Dhaka, based on a secret tip-off, with the help of RAB-4.
On the same day, a kidnapped young woman, Kalpana Akhter (pseudonym), was rescued unharmed in case number 26 of Pirgachha Police Station filed under Section 7/30 of the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act-2000 (Amended 2003).
It is learnt that Kalpana Akhter (19), son of Kawsar Ali of Nazirdigar area of Rangpur Metropolitan Tajhat Police Station, developed a love relationship with him on mobile. Later, Nahid kidnapped her from her house on the afternoon of January 31 under the lure of marriage. When the victim's father filed a case in this incident, the investigation officer of the case, SI Shafiqul Islam, along with a team, rescued her from Hemayetpur area under Savar Police Station in Dhaka district.
SI Shafiqul Islam said, "The responsibility of the police is not only to bring criminals to justice, but it is also our commitment to protect people's lives and property. Even if it means risking lives, we are determined to ensure people's safety."
OC of Pirgachha Police Station, Noor Alam Siddiqui, said, he immediately informed the Superintendent of Police of Rangpur district about the two successful operations.
