Those who try to deteriorate law, order will not be spared: Home Adviser

Law and order situation cannot be allowed to deteriorate. No exemption will be given to those who try to disrupt law and order.

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury told journalists after discussions with the leaders of various local political and ethnic groups and the security forces at Rangamati Cantonment on Saturday afternoon.

The Home Affairs Adviser said that an inquiry committee will be constituted with high-ranking officials in this incident and a fair investigation will be conducted. So that the real culprits can be brought to justice. Under no circumstances can the situation deteriorate.

At this time, Adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Supradeep Chakma, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives AF Hasan Arif, GOC of the Army Major General Mohammad Mainur Rahman, Divisional Commissioner Tofail Islam, Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Md. Mosharraf Hossain Khan were present.

Meanwhile, joint patrolling of the army, BGB and police has been increased since the of Friday's clashes in the hill district Rangamati. The situation in Rangamati is calm as section 144 is enforced by the administration. Main roads are closed to traffic due to an indefinite transport strike, but private motorcycles are plying on internal roads.
