Teacher couple brutally attacked in home, community demands justice

A teacher couple was brutally attacked in their home in Chaperhat, Lalmonirhat.
Abdul Malek (54), an Assistant Professor . with over 30 years of experience, and his wife Rahima Begum (45), an Assistant . school teacher, were attacked on May 5, 2025, at around 9:25 AM. A group of armed men with sticks, iron rods, and knives surrounded their house and attacked them.
The couple was alone at home when the attack happened. They are now seriously injured and being treated at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Their lives are still in danger.
The reason for the attack is not clear yet. Some think it may be related to land disputes or revenge.
Local authorities have started an investigation. The community, students, and local leaders are demanding justice and punishment for those responsible.
Abdul Malek said, “I am just a teacher. I want to teach. But now we are suffering like this.”
