Sylhet Test: Bangladesh 88-3 in reply after Hasan takes six to bowl out WI for 356

Bangladesh reached 88 for three at stumps on the second day of the second Test against West Indies on Friday, trailing by 268 after Hasan Mahmud's six-wicket haul helped bowl the visitors out for 356.

Towhid Hridoy was unbeaten on 29 and Mushfiqur Rahim on 19 at the Sylhet International Stadium, after the pair added an unbroken 37 for the fourth wicket.

With opener Shadman Islam injured, off-spinner Nayeem Hasan opened the batting for the first time, having never opened even in first-class cricket. He made five before edging Jayden Seales to Brandon King at slip in the fifth over.

Tanzid Hasan followed for 16, stepping out to Justin Greaves and caught by debutant Kevin Wickham with a diving catch at point.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto made 18 before Shamar Joseph bowled him, leaving Bangladesh on 51 for three.

Shadman sprained his left ankle while stopping a boundary in the morning and was carried off on a stretcher. Team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said he was under observation and would be sent for an MRI scan.

Earlier, Hasan finished with six for 90, his second six-wicket haul in Tests. He took two wickets in two balls with the second new ball, bowling centurion Amir Jangoo for 133 and having captain Roston Chase caught behind first ball.

Hasan became the first Bangladesh pacer to take a Test wicket by stumping when Liton Das stumped Joshua Bishop. It was also his fifth five-wicket haul, each taken in a different country, a feat previously achieved only by Australia's Nathan Lyon.

West Indies' last-wicket pair of Jomel Warrican and Seales added 33 before Mehidy Hasan Miraz ended the innings. Warrican was unbeaten on 27.

Taskin Ahmed and Miraz took two wickets each, while Taijul Islam and Nayeem went wicketless.
