Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital : Modernization of CCU Department to provide relief to patients suffering from heart disease

The Cardiology Department is now in a state of crisis, with no facilities to provide adequate medical care to dying heart patients. The ward has been modernized, ending the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) crisis.
Director Brigadier General Dr. AKM Moshiul Munir inaugurated the modern CCU department at 9:30 am today, Monday.
According to sources, after the inauguration of the new two-storey ICO building on April 20, 2014, the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) department was shifted to the second floor. The unit, which started 33 years ago, had been ill for a long time. Since then, the CCU department of Sher-e-Bangla Medical has a total of 8 beds in the government register, but later it was increased to 12. The number of patients admitted to this ward was 4 to 5 times higher. Due to the shortage of beds, patients are forced to seek treatment on the floor.
After the shift from the main building of the hospital to the second floor of a separate building, 8 air conditioners were installed. After a couple of years, all of them were broken, so the patients started suffering in the unbearable heat. Due to the pressure of additional patients, anger over the non-cooperation and mismanagement of doctors and nurses reached an extreme level in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the Cardiology Department.
After a long time, the CCU of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital was opened in a completely new look today, Monday. Which was the demand of the lives of the people of Barisal for many days. The current hospital director, Brigadier General Dr. Mashiul Muni, has been applauded by the conscious community for completing the much-awaited task.
After the inauguration of the modernized CCU department on the west side of the 2nd floor of the ICU building in the I Block of the hospital on Monday, a meeting was held in the surgery seminar hall on the 4th floor of the hospital.
In the meeting chaired by Brigadier General Dr. AKM Moshiul Munir, Director of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, the Head of the Department of CCU and Assistant Professor Dr. Asim Biswas said that the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the Cardiology Department has been newly arranged in a modern manner on the personal proposal of the hospital director. 24 new beds of modern quality have been placed here. Each bed has a cardiac monitor, oxygen, central AC, 4 new toilets have been built, the plaster of the walls has been fixed, and various furniture has been changed.
The Medical Officer in charge of conducting the meeting, Dr. Munjiba Shirin said, "Our Director Sir, the embodiment of modernization of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, is doing one development after another to ensure adequate service to the patients. Recently, he has introduced modern quality Laboratory Medicine Department and Hematology Laboratory Department and automation process. In continuation of his development, the modern CCU Department was inaugurated today. We express our gratitude to the Director.
Director Brigadier General Dr. AKM Moshiul Munir said in the meeting, "Today is a happy day for us, the journey of the modern CCU department has begun at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Patients in this department will no longer have to suffer in the heat. All the facilities have been provided here to ensure good treatment." He thanked those who have cooperated in modernizing the CCU department.
The inauguration ceremony of the CCU Department modernization was attended by the Deputy Director of the hospital Dr. AKM Nazmul Ahsan, Head of the CCU Department and Assistant Professor Dr. Asim Biswas and Assistant Director (Administration) of the hospital Dr. Mohammad Mahmud Hasan, Consultant of the Cardiology Department Dr. ABM Imam Hossain (Jewel), Dr. Md. Mahamudul Hasan, Dr. Md. Afzal Hossain, President of the Barisal Press Club Professor Aminul Islam Khasru, General Secretary of the Barisal Reporters Unity Khalid Saifullah, Md.
