The posts of President and General Secretary of the Faridpur District Jatiyatabadi  Sramik Dal have been declared vacant as the president, who was appointed 15 years ago, joined the Awami League, and the general secretary passed away. 

Consequently, Senior Vice-president Md. Shamsul Haque Sardar has been assigned as President, and Senior Joint Secretary Abdul Mannan Mana has been appointed as the new General Secretary.

This decision was unanimously taken at the party’s organizational meeting, as informed by the party leaders at a press conference.

The press conference was held on Monday afternoon at the party’s district office located in Goalachamat, Faridpur. Various committee leaders of the party were present at the event. The written statement was read out by veteran workers' leader Md. Shamsul Haque Sardar, who has been given the responsibility of president.

He stated that the last 51-member district committee was formed in 2010. Since then, the organizational activities were dormant. In 2018, committee president Sheikh Mozaffar Ali Musa joined the Awami League. General secretary Md. Oliar Rahman also joined the Awami League and later passed away. Additionally, 13 other members died over the years.

Under these circumstances, an organizational meeting was held on April 4. In the meeting, with the consensus of 21 members, the two posts were declared vacant, and a new leadership was decided.

According to the decision, senior vice-president Md. Shamsul Haque Sardar will serve as president, and senior joint secretary Abdul Mannan Mana will act as general secretary. He mentioned that this decision will be communicated to the central committee.

He further stated that based on the party’s decision, all activities carried out under Mozaffar Ali Musa’s leadership since February 2018 will be considered invalid. Under the authority given to the newly appointed president and general secretary, new committees at the upazila and municipal levels will be formed. This was unanimously agreed upon.

He alleged that since the 2010 committee announcement, several members got involved in Awami League politics, which brought organizational stagnation. Despite informing the central committee multiple times, no action was taken. Due to fear of the Awami League, they could not take any organizational action against them.

Among those present were Vice-president Masudur Rahman Masud, A.K.M. Nurunnabi, joint general secretary Md. Motahar Hossain Mamun, assistant secretaries Md. Rouful Alam Limon, Md. Zahid Hossain, Md. Jamal, Organizing  Secretary Md. A. Majid, and 21 committee members. Also present were Metropolitan Committee General Secretary Zahid Hossain, Vice-president M.M. Jahangir, Organizing  Secretary Mizanur Rahman Babu, Joint Secretary Wahiduzzaman Litu, and Kotwali Thana Committee General Secretary Abdus Sattar Joardar.
