A stakeholder workshop on health and nutrition was held at Nachole in Chapainawabganj on Wednesday noon at the Upazila Administration Conference Room under the Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Improvement (RELI) project of th Social Development Foundation (SDF).
The workshop was presided over by SDF Chapainawabganj District Manager Md. Mahabubur Rashid, while the Chief Guest was Nachole UNO Md. Kamal Hossain.
Also present were heads of various government and non-government offices at the Upazila level, representatives of local government bodies and village organizations.
In his address, the chair stated that the ‘RELI’ project is being implemented by SDF under the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh. He further noted that through this project, initiatives such as poverty alleviation, capacity building and employment generation through training, engaging the ultra-poor and poor in income-generating activities with financial assistance, ensuring food security, forming sustainable community organizations, providing one-time grants to disadvantaged and asset-less groups, rural infrastructure development, youth employment, livelihood improvement and health and nutrition support are being carried out.
He also briefed the attendees on the overall activities of SDF across 50 villages in Nachol Upazila. Following an open discussion with participants, the Chief Guest Nachole UNO Md. Kamal Hossain distributed scholarships to nine meritorious students under the SDF program, each receiving Tk. 24,000, totaling Tk. 216,000.
In conclusion, the Chief Guest expressed optimism that through mutual cooperation and coordination among various government and non-government offices at the Upazila level, the overall activities of SDF in Nachol would be successfully implemented and he officially declared the workshop closed.
