Science Secretary Anwar Hossain calls for expanded IAEA fellowships, internships for Bangladeshi professionals

Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain called upon the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to expand international skill development, fellowships, internships, and training opportunities for Bangladeshi scientists, researchers, students, and government officials during a bilateral meeting in Vienna, Austria, on Friday.
The meeting was held between Science Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain and IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation Hua Liu at the IAEA headquarters.
During the session, Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain emphasized that fostering talent, encouraging research and innovation, and enhancing technical capabilities through international cooperation remain top priorities for Bangladesh. He specifically requested increased IAEA internship allocations for Bangladeshi government officials, greater participation in international training programs, and expanded recruitment avenues across various positions within the agency.
The Bangladeshi delegation at the meeting included Bangladesh Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Vienna Toufiq Hasan, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Dr. M. Moinul Islam, Joint Secretary Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam, and Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project Director Dr. Md. Kabir Hossain.
