
RU professor killed in road crash, another critically hurt

Prof. Shiv Shankar Roy of the Marketing Department at Rajshahi University (RU) was killed in a road accident on Friday morning, while Prof. Asaduzzaman Badsha of the Philosophy Department sustained serious injuries.
The incident occurred ataround 7:00 am on Friday near Nowhata Jute Mill under Paba police station in Rajshahi. Police said a vehicle hit their motorcycle near the Ansar Camp on the Rajshahi–Naogaon highway and fled the scene.
The vehicle has not yet been identified. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where Prof. Roy (58) was declared dead on arrival. Prof. Badsha was admitted to the ICU with severe injuries to his hands and legs and remains unconscious.
RU Assistant Proctor Prof. Gias Uddin said that both professors were heading out for early morning fishing on Prof. Badsha’s Vespa motorcycle when the accident occurred.
RU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farid Uddin Khan expressed deep condolences and Said, “ Our Marketing Department teacher Prof. Shiv Shankar Roy left us this morning in a road accident.
Paba police chief Monirul Islam confirmed the incident.
