Radiance of Krishnachura spreads across Sreenagar’s landscape

Amidst the harshness of summer, the Krishnachura flower (Royal Poinciana) rises in vivid glory, adorning the trees with a fiery red splendor. Its branches are overflowing with blossoms, creating a sight that brings artistic beauty to both eyes and soul.
Throughout Bikrampur and across the homesteads of Munshiganj, these flame-red flowers are in full bloom, adding charm to the surroundings.The roads of Sreenagar Nagerhat Road, Tantar Road, and the Sreenagar-Munshiganj Highway—are all lined with these radiant Krishnachura trees. The branches, heavy with clusters of flowers, are bending under their own weight.Several visitors—Anika, Rajon, Asim, Saimon, and Sujon—shared their excitement: “We came to the village during the Eid holidays. You can spot the Krishnachura trees from far away. It's been a delight enjoying their beauty with friends. You can’t truly appreciate this flower’s elegance unless you see it up close.”
Md. Hossain Dhali, a tree seller at Goalimandra Market and owner of a nursery in Bibandi, Srinagar, stated, “My nursery has a large collection of Krishnachura saplings, priced between 100 and 400 taka.” Flower enthusiasts and passersby alike are enjoying the natural charm of these trees.A firsthand visit reveals clusters of Krishnachura flowers blooming vibrantly, painting the landscape in vivid red, as if a peacock has spread its colorful feathers across nature.
According to Selim Hossain, a forest officer of Sreenagar Upazila, there are mainly three types of Krishnachura. While most people know it as Krishnachura, it is also called ‘Gulmohar,’ though the latter name is less commonly used. Depending on the variety, the flowers vary in shade—from deep red to light red and even yellowish hues. Once blooming starts, flowers continue to appear in clusters over time.He also encouraged the planting of other environment-friendly trees alongside Krishnachura to enhance natural beauty.
