
8 Rohingyas detained in Bandarban

Based on a secret tip-off, police in Bandarban detained eight Rohingya nationals during an operation conducted on Wednesday ( morning in the Balaghata area of the district town.
The detainees have been identified as: Abdul Karim (45), Shamsul Alam (40), Ayatullah (35), Kullah Mia (45), Mujibullah (25), Md. Taiyeb (22), Karim Ullah (22), and Sayedullah (22). All of them are residents of Block A-11, Camp 19, Tankkhali, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
According to police sources, a report was received that eight Rohingya individuals were staying in the Balaghata area of Bandarban town. Acting on the information, officers from Bandarban Sadar Police Station conducted a raid and detained the eight Rohingyas from the Muslim Para area of Balaghata, who had reportedly escaped from the camp.
Rohingya leader Abdul Karim stated that they had been working as tree-cutting laborers in various parts of Balaghata Muslim Para for the past one and a half months.
Bandarban Sadar Police Station OC Masud Parvez said. after detaining the eight Rohingya nationals based on the secret tip, they were returned to the Tankkhali camp in Cox’s Bazar.
