One accused arrested in Savar student rape case

Detectives of the Dhaka District (North) Police have arrested one prime suspect involved in the rape of a university student. The incident occurred on October 14 around 7:00 PM in Komlapur Goyalipara area under Savar Model Police Station.
Following the incident, the victim’s family filed a case on October 16 under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 (Section 9(1)/30), recorded as Case No. 59 at Savar Model Police Station.
Acting on the instructions of Dhaka District Police Superintendent Md. Anisuzzaman (PPM) and under the supervision of OC Md. Jalal Uddin of DB (North), Dhaka District, a special team led by Sub-Inspectors (unarmed) Ariful Islam, Kazi Kamal Mia, and accompanying force conducted an operation.
The operation was conducted at 3:25 AM on October 20 in Nagri Bazar area under Kaliganj Police Station in Gazipur District. During the raid, the first accused named in the FIR, Sohel Rozario (40), son of Sontosh Rozario of Komlapur Goyalipara, Savar, was arrested.
During primary interrogation, Sohel Rozario reportedly confessed to his involvement in the incident. Legal proceedings against the arrested accused are currently underway.
