National Vitamin 'A' Plus campaign begins in Natore

The National Vitamin 'A' Plus campaign commenced in Natore on Sunday with an aim to administer vitamin capsules to nearly 2.5 lakh children across the district to boost their immunity and prevent childhood blindness.
Natore Deputy Commissioner Asma Shahin formally inaugurated the day-long health drive at the Rani Brajasundari Sub-Health Center in the district town at 8:30 AM on Sunday.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Natore Civil Surgeon Dr. Muhammad Mashiur Rahman. Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Health Sujit Debnath and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shariful Haque also attended the event as special guests, highlighting the significance of the campaign in safeguarding children's health, boosting natural resistance, and preventing long-term complications related to malnutrition.
According to Civil Surgeon Dr. Muhammad Mashiur Rahman, a total of 248,595 children are being brought under the vaccination network throughout the district during this campaign. Among the total targeted children, 25,592 infants aged between six and 11 months are being administered the low-dose blue capsules, while 223,003 children aged between 12 and 59 months are being given the high-potency red capsules.
