Modern Doppler Radar Station inaugurated in Rangpur

 A modern Doppler radar station was inaugurated in Rangpur on Sunday morning. 

 

 On the occasion, Bangladesh Meteorological Department Director Momenul Islam inaugurated it at a program organized at the city's College Road Meteorological Office in the  International Meteorological Consultant Yoshi Hisa Uchida, Deputy Director Ahmed Arif Rashid, Rangpur Meteorological, Radar and Earthquake Observatory officer Mostafizur Rahman, among others, were present at the program.

 

With the establishment of this Doppler radar station, weather forecasting will be more accurate and timely. It will be very effective especially in analyzing rain, cyclones and other weather conditions.

 

Doppler radar will play a positive role in the agricultural economy of the agriculture-dependent northern region. Early forecasting will reduce damage and loss of life. Through this, people in an area of 400 and a half kilometers have entered a new horizon of knowing early weather information.

 

With the launch of this new radar station, the location, speed, direction and temperature of clouds will be known. It will be possible to reduce the death rate by predicting lightning. Information about earthquakes and major floods can be provided in Rangpur, which is located in the red zone. Farmers can be protected from crop damage by providing advance rainfall information. Along with this, necessary steps can be taken by researching the weather conditions and causes of change in Rangpur.
