Meeting between DU VC, IDEA Director held

Leena Rikkila Tamang, Director for South Asia of the Australian election observation organization International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), met with Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan on Monday, 28 at his office.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest. Particularly, Leena Rikkila Tamang, Director for South Asia of IDEA, highlighted the role of Dhaka University in strengthening the democratic system in the country. She expressed IDEA’s interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dhaka University. Through this initiative, students would gain a clearer understanding of the democratic system, she opined.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan briefed the IDEA Director about the democratic practices at Dhaka University, the University's role in establishing democracy, and the activities of the Democracy Lab. At the same time, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed IDEA's interest in signing an MoU with Dhaka University.
