The attention of Dhaka University authorities has been drawn to the news under the headline  'DU Vice-Chancellor appoints preferred candidate without notification' published in a national daily on 27 April 2025. The allegation made in the news about appointment to vacant posts without examination is untrue, motivated and misleading. Dhaka University authorities strongly protest against this untrue news.In fact, after the student uprising of 2024, changes were made to various important administrative positions including the Vice-Chancellor. At that time, there was a strong demand from the students for the transfer of officials and employees who were supporting the fascist government and close to the previous administration from various offices including the Vice-Chancellor's office. In view of this demand, the officials and employees who were supporting the fascist government and close to the previous administration were transferred from the Vice-Chancellor's office to other places. Later, considering the manpower crisis, long-standing loyalty and work efficiency, Firoz Shah, an employee of the Vice-Chancellor's department, was transferred to the Vice-Chancellor's office and he was given the responsibility of protocol. Under the powers granted by the Dhaka University Order, 1973, the Vice-Chancellor can transfer/place any officer and employee to any department /institute at any time. Under this power, Firoz Shah has been transferred to the Vice-Chancellor's office by following the proper rules. This is neither a new appointment nor a promotion. It is just a transfer from one post to another in the same pay scale. There are many such precedents. At any time, the Vice-Chancellor has the opportunity to re-transfer him to his own department or elsewhere.The news has been misrepresented in the public mind, which has created confusion.
