Mass gathering of BNP held in Kalia

A discussion and prayer meeting organized by the Kalia Upazila and Poura BNP, along with affiliated wings, in observance of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of President Ziaur Rahman turned into a sea of people on Saturday. Held at the Kalia bus stand, the event witnessed the participation of thousands of BNP supporters and well-wishers.
Abdul Latif Samrat, a former president of the US BNP and member of BNP’s National Executive Committee, joined the event virtually as the chief guest. In his speech, he stated, “No extortion or terrorism will be allowed to take people hostage in the coming days. I will remain on the streets and continue the fight for the development of the people of Narail.”
The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Ahmed Shafik Shafiqul Haider Parvez from the Ziaur Rahman Foundation.
Among the special guests were Zulfikar Ali Mondal, former mayor and senior vice-president of Narail District BNP; Sajjadur Rahman Suja, former vice-president of the district BNP; Professor B.M. Nagib Hossain, chairman of B.M. Bakir Hossain Smriti Foundation; Principal S. Shaha Anand, organizational secretary of the Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Welfare Front (central committee); and Zahidul Islam Jahir, general secretary of Texas State BNP, USA.
Other speakers included youth leader and former JCD activist Rabiul Islam Sagor; Poura BNP vice-president Rabiul Islam Robi; Saiduazzaman Pasha, hospitality affairs secretary of the central Swechchhasebak Dal; and M. Rezaul Karim, former acting president of Narail District Krishak Dal.
The event was presided over by Kalia Upazila BNP president Sardar Anwar Hossain and conducted by Selim Reza Yusuf, general secretary of Kalia Poura BNP.
Speakers emphasized the need for unity within the party and called upon all to work together under the leadership of Tarique Rahman to rebuild Bangladesh. They also expressed a shared commitment to supporting the BNP-nominated candidate in the next general election in Narail-1, regardless of who receives the nomination.
The program concluded with a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the soul of late President Ziaur Rahman and the well-being of his family.
