Lithuanian Ambassador meets DU VC : Discussions on strengthening academic cooperation

Lithuanian Ambassador to India, Ms. Diana Mikevicien, paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam at his office today, Monday.
During this time, Mr. Lukas Kisilias, Deputy Head of Mission of the same embassy, was with her.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibility of undertaking joint collaborative education and research activities in the fields of solar technology, biotechnology, information and communication technology (ICT) and physics between various European universities including Lithuania and Dhaka University. They also discussed the possibility of launching dual degree programs and undertaking teacher-student exchange programs between Dhaka University and various universities in Lithuania. They agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam thanked the Lithuanian Ambassador for his visit to Dhaka University and expressed his interest in working together to create more educational opportunities for the youth. He briefed the guest about the brief history of Dhaka University and its education and research activities.
He also emphasized on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Lithuania through exchange of knowledge and experience in addition to education and research.
