Land grab attempt violating ourt order in Sreepur

A group allegedly led by a former Chhatra Dal leader attempted to forcibly seize land in Gararon, Bormi union, Shreepur upazila, defying a court injunction, locals claim.
The land owner accuses the group of being hired for Tk 2 lakh to grab the property, valued at Tk 60 lakh.
Monir Hossain, the landowner, said he has legally owned and used the plot for years. Recently, Anwar Hossain (alias Fazlul Haque), Momtaz Uddin, Moslem Uddin, Al Amin, and Naim attempted to occupy it. When Hossain filed a case in Gazipur court, a status quo order was issued, barring any activity on the land. Despite this, the group erected tin fences and a makeshift structure, and allegedly threatened to kill Hossain when he protested.
“I sought court protection to save my land, but influential people are ignoring the order and trying to grab it through payments,” Hossain said. “My family and I feel extremely insecure.”
Mamun Hossain, organizational secretary of the local BNP ward unit, accused former Chhatra Dal leader Sohel Fakir of taking Tk 2 lakh from Anwar Hossain to seize the land. An audio recording, obtained by this correspondent, captures Mamun saying, “Anwar gave Sohel Tk 2 lakh. If he gives me Tk 2 lakh, I’ll clear the structures with my boys—they need expenses.” The recording suggests a financial deal to facilitate the grab.
Anwar Hossain claimed ownership, alleging, “Monir illegally registered the land.” Efforts to contact Sohel Fakir for comment were unsuccessful.

Local Concerns residents expressed alarm over rising land grabbing fueled by political influence, urging swift administrative action to curb such incidents.
Shreepur thana police said they have shared the court order with the parties involved and urged them to maintain peace. “We’re monitoring the situation and will take legal steps as needed,” said the OC.
