The Detective Branch (DB) of Narayanganj District Police arrested Saifuddin Mohammad Faisal, Member Secretary of Narayanganj City Krishak Dal, on Tuesday afternoon in connection with an extortion case involving employees of the Padma Oil PLC Godnail Depot in Siddhirganj.

DB Police arrested Faisal from the Siddhirganj area at approximately 12:00 PM on Tuesday. Narayanganj District Police Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Md. Hasinuzzaman confirmed the arrest, stating that further details regarding the investigation would be released in due course.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Faisal contacted Md. Rafiqul Islam, a checker at the Jet A-1 point of Padma Oil PLC’s Godnail Depot, via WhatsApp on July 1, 2026, demanding a one-time extortion payment of Tk 20 lakh alongside a monthly toll of Tk 2 lakh from the point's employees. The complaint alleged that Faisal issued death threats when the staff refused to comply, subsequently repeating the extortion demands and intimidation over multiple phone calls.

The FIR further detailed that on August 1, 2026, Faisal along with 10 to 12 unidentified accomplices forcibly entered the Godnail Depot's Jet A-1 point, confronted the employees, and reiterated the monetary demands. Upon their refusal, the group adopted a aggressive posture, threatening to prevent the staff from working and warning of death and abduction should any official police complaint be lodged.

Official records indicate that Faisal faced prior allegations of extortion and intimidation. In March 2026, a local businessman, Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan of Siddhirganj, reported to the media and local police that Faisal and his associates demanded tolls from his dredging business. Additionally, reports filed on August 1 indicated that Faisal, accompanied by associate Sajib Bhuiyan and 15 to 20 individuals, intruded into the depot's ATF delivery point following a staff reassignment to intimidate newly appointed workers.
