July Heroism, July Sacrifice graffiti inaugurated on Padma Bridge by Home Adviser

 To honor the martyrs of the July 2024 student-people’s uprising, the graffiti artworks titled ‘July Heroism’ and ‘July Sacrifice’ on the murals at the Mawa and Jazira ends of the Padma Bridge have been inaugurated. 

The inauguration ceremony was held at 2:30 pm on Saturday at the mural square of the Mawa end, where the chief guest, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs of the interim government, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, formally opened the graffiti.

On the occasion, the Home Affairs Adviser said, “I pay my deepest respects to the martyrs of the Liberation War and to all those who laid down their lives in the July uprising. I pray for the eternal peace of their souls and extend my condolences to their families. I also wish a speedy recovery for those who were injured during the uprising.”

He further said, “On the occasion of July Uprising and Youth Festival 2025, these historically themed graffiti have been painted on the murals at both ends of the Padma Bridge. This is not just an inauguration ceremony, but an exceptional effort to carry history forward to the new generation. The artworks July Heroism and July Sacrifice will remind us of the sacrifices made by the youth for independence and democracy.”

He added, “This generation must let the next know that the July uprising was not just a movement, but a struggle to stand against injustice and establish truth and justice. This movement gave the nation new lessons. I believe that such initiatives will inspire people with the spirit of truth, justice, freedom, and democracy.”

Special guests at the inauguration included the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, the Secretary of the Bridges Division, the Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj, the DIG of Dhaka Range, the Deputy Commissioner of Shariatpur, the Superintendent of Police of Munshiganj, and the Superintendent of Police of Shariatpur.

 After the inauguration of the graffiti on Padma Bridge, the Home Affairs Adviser visited two Durga Puja mandaps in Louhajong: the Konoksar Malo Para Sarbojanin Kali & Durga Puja Mandap and the Dakshin Moshodgaon Shri Shri Sarbojanin Kali & Durga Mandap. At that time, the minister inquired about the well-being of the Sanatan religious community.

He said, “Inshallah, there is no cause for concern this year. Please carry out your puja rituals properly. The government stands beside you. Along with the law enforcement agencies, your voluntary workers are also active in ensuring safety. This year, the government has allocated 50 million taka for your community.”M

Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatema-tul Jannan, Louhajong Upazila Nirbahi Officer Major Nesar Uddin, President of the Upazila Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council Alok Kumar Mitra, President of the Puja Celebration Council Monoj Singh Amit, and President of the Konoksar Temple Committee Ashok Kumar Malo were also present.
