Joint operation to ease traffic in N’ganj City

A joint operation to alleviate traffic congestion was conducted in Narayanganj City on Thursday at around 11 a.m. in Chashara. The operation involved the Narayanganj City Corporation, district administration, army, police, and BRTA.

During the operation, four buses from Green Dhaka, Asian, and Moumita, along with two trucks and two battery-operated auto-rickshaws, were impounded. Vehicles lacking proper documents were seized and taken to a dump site, while some others were issued fines.

The Chief Executive Officer of Narayanganj City Corporation, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, stated that illegal bus counters were given a 24-hour deadline to vacate. It was also decided that no trucks will be allowed into the city from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. The operation included the presence of Executive Magistrate Masud Rana, Major Ayaz Abdullah Galib from the Army, NCC urban planner Moinul Islam, representatives from various bus owner associations, labor leaders, and students.

Body recovered in N’ganj

Police have identified a dismembered body found in a lake in Rupganj, Narayanganj.

The body belongs to Mohammad Jasimuddin Masum, 59, the owner of Chand Dyeing in Sastapur, Fatullah.

The body was discovered on Wednesday morning in Brahmankhali Lake in the Purbachal sub-city area of Rupganj.

Investigator ASI Ruknuzzaman reported that family members identified the body as that of businessman Jasimuddin after it was retrieved around 7 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the family, Jasimuddin’s son, Obaidul Islam Shimu, had filed a general diary with Gulshan Police Station after his father went missing on Sunday. His body was identified three days later.

Local residents reported finding the dismembered body floating in Brahmankhali Lake, wrapped in polythene, and notified the police. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station Liakat Hossain suspects that he may have been killed three or four days prior and then dumped in the lake. The body has been sent to Narayanganj morgue for postmortem examination.

Housewife dtabbed to death in N’ganj

A housewife was fatally stabbed by her husband over a trivial issue in Fatullah, Narayanganj. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, in Hajipara, Kashipur Union, according to OC Shariful Islam of Fatullah Model Police Station. The deceased, Sanowara Begum, 32, was the daughter of the late Helal Uddin, and the accused husband, Shafiqul Islam, 35, was a resident of the same area.

Shafiqul, a Singapore-based expatriate, had recently returned to Bangladesh 15 days ago. The couple has two daughters. OC Shariful said, based on preliminary questioning of Shafiqul, that the altercation began when Sanowara scolded their younger daughter for going to the rooftop to play, despite her mother’s warning. This led to a dispute between the husband and wife, during which Shafiqul allegedly stabbed Sanowara with a knife, killing her instantly.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital for postmortem. They also confiscated the blood-stained knife and detained Shafiqul. A case has been filed.

Man beaten to death in Narayanganj

In Narayanganj, a man named Jahangir Ahmed, 45, was allegedly beaten to death following a land dispute. Locals apprehended two individuals involved in the incident and handed them over to the police. Jahangir Ahmed, a rickshaw puller, was the son of the late Mohor Ali and resided in Gopchar, Gognagar Union. The arrested suspects, Amir and Faisal, are also from the same area.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night, November 13, in Gognagar. Jahangir’s brother, Jasim, stated that Jahangir met with Amir, Faisal, and three others to discuss the land issue. Later, he called them to come quickly, but when they arrived, they found Jahangir unconscious. While rushing him to the hospital, three suspects fled, but Amir and Faisal were caught by locals and handed over to the police.

Doctors at Narayanganj General Hospital declared Jahangir dead. Police suspect that Jahangir was severely beaten, leading to his death. Sub-Inspector Fazor Ali of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station reported that the body has been sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
