Mostafizur Rahman Mostak and Shah Jahan have been elected as President and General Secretary respectively in the central biennial conference-2026 of the Jatiyatabadi Bankers Association of Bangladesh (JBAB).
The conference was held in a festive and enthusiastic atmosphere on Saturday morning (August 15) from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Institution of Diplomate Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka. A large number of bankers from various scheduled banks enthusiastically participated and exercised their voting rights.
In the presidential race, Mostafizur Rahman secured 267 votes to claim the presidency, defeating his competitor Altamashul Islam Akand Iqbal, who received 11 votes.
Meanwhile, Shah Jahan was elected General Secretary with 225 votes, while his opponent AKM Maksudur Rahman Chowdhury bagged 52 votes.
The election generated widespread enthusiasm among bankers across different tiers of scheduled banks. Voting and results were conducted and announced under the direct supervision of the Election Commission-2026 within the stipulated timeframe.
Expressing gratitude to the members for their trust and affection, the newly elected president and general secretary pledged to work effectively toward upholding professional dignity, ensuring members' welfare, and safeguarding the interests of bankers.
Participating bankers expressed hope that under the new leadership emerging from this central biennial conference, JBAB will move forward as a more united, robust, and effective organization.
