A human chain and protest meeting was held in Bagha, Rajshahi against a false press conference and slander against the Union BNP President over a land dispute on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

 People from all walks of life in Bausa Union organized the human chain and protest rally under a united banner.

Earlier, on Sunday , Md. Aslam Hossain, a resident of Purbo Para village in Bausa Union, alleged at a press conference that the land purchased by his father, which they have possessed for 45 years, was illegally grabbed by Bausa Union BNP President Md. Rezaul Karim and his associates after political change in the country.

In response to this alleged false press conference, Md. Jamal Uddin, claiming to be the rightful owner of the land, said during Tuesday’s (June 17, 2025) human chain that, “According to the RS record and my deed, I am the rightful owner of this land. During the Awami League's tenure, their cadres, especially Aslam and his gang, tortured us, set fire to my house, blocked access to our road, and forced us to leave our ancestral home. Crying, I had to flee my birthplace and take refuge at my in-laws’ house in Arani Jotaraghu. My only crime was being a child of a BNP family, for which I was attacked, my home vandalized and burned, and ultimately driven out.”

“I demand justice for the cruel persecution inflicted upon me and my children by that Awami League cadre Aslam, who forced us to abandon our father’s land and birthplace.”

He further stated in the human chain that the press conference they held was completely false and baseless. “Bausa Union BNP President Rezaul Karim is a respectable individual. Awami League cadres are spreading false rumors against him, and we strongly protest.”

Others who spoke at the event included Jamal Uddin’s son Mizanur Rahman, President of Ward 4 Bausa Union BNP Altaf Hossain, Organizational Secretary Shahinur Rahman, Vice-President of Ward 5 Bausa Union Chhatra Dal Rajib Ahmed Mondal, Bausa Union Jubo Dal leader Abdul Awal, and local resident Abdul Malek, among others.

Speakers claimed that Aslam Uddin, son of the late Amir Pramanik and an Awami League associate from Bausa Union, falsely accused Mariam Begum (wife of Jamal Uddin), Jamal Uddin, and Mizanur Rahman of attempting to illegally occupy his land. They stated the accusation and press conference were completely fabricated. They added that the actual owner of the land is Jamal Uddin and his family.

According to them, helpless Jamal Uddin and his family own 54.92 decimal (shatak) of land at Mouza: Bausa, JL No-131, RS Khatian No-1272, RS Dag No-10196 (26 decimal), and 20625 (28.92 decimal under Khatian 45), which land-grabber Aslam Uddin is trying to illegally occupy using forged records and a fake deed numbered 12179 dated 05-03-1973. He is also spreading false propaganda about Jamal Uddin's legal and rightful property.

Speakers and locals demanded redress from the higher authorities against Awami League’s associate Aslam and his cadre gang for attempted land grabbing, false propaganda, and harassment. The human chain concluded with a protest procession marching through various roads.
