The High Court will issue its verdict Tuesday on two separate writs filed against the 15th amendment to the Constitution, which annulled the caretaker government system, named Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the Father of the Nation, and made other major changes.
The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury will deliver the verdict, in this regard.
On 5 December, the court fixed the date of verdict after 12 days of extensive hearing.
The abolishing of caretaker government system led to the thorough rigging of three consecutive national elections by the ousted Awami League leaders, one of the writ petitions claimed.
On 19 August and 29 October, the High Court issued separate rulings on the two petitions asking the Prof Yunus-led interim government to explain why the 15th amendment should not be declared unconstitutional and actions taken under it invalidated.
One of the writs was filed by freedom fighter Mofazzal Hossain of Naogaon, and the other by five conscious citizens: Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik Secretary Badiul Alam Majumdar, Tofail Ahmed, M Hafizuddin Khan, Md Jobirul Hoque Bhuiyan, and Zahrah Rahman.
