Govt committed to strengthening economic ties, preserving tradition of Bangladesh-China friendship : Mir Helal

State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, MP, has stated that the current government is firmly determined to maintain the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and China.
He noted that the robust foundation of political, diplomatic, and economic cooperation between the two nations—laid through the visionary steps of BNP founder and martyred President Ziaur Rahman—is being further accelerated by the present administration.
The State Minister made these remarks on Monday while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the China Economic and Industrial Zone (CEIZ) in Anwara, Chattogram, as a special guest.
In his speech, he emphasized that the establishment of this special economic zone in Anwara has elevated bilateral trade and economic ties to a new height. He further noted that since assuming office under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government has been working relentlessly to keep the country's economic wheels active and dynamic.
Commending the swift implementation of the project, State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, MP, said that although efforts to launch this CEIZ project had remained stalled for a long time, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman believes in action rather than empty rhetoric.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Minister for Finance and Planning Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury as the chief guest, with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed present as a special guest. Other speakers included Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and BIDA/BEZA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury.
The event was also attended by CEIZ Chairman Wang Benqian, local Members of Parliament Ershad Ullah, Abu Sufian, Sarwar Jamal Nizam, and Humam Quader Chowdhury. Prominent business leaders present included Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mohammad Amirul Haque, Chittagong Customs C&F Agents Association President S.M. Saiful Alam, and M.M. Ispahani Limited Chairman Mirza Salman Ispahani, among others.
