Police have arrested a fugitive accused in a human trafficking case from Panchkhola Jajira area of Madaripur Sadar Upazila. He was arrested in a special operation by the district police on Thursday at around 9:30 pm.

The arrested accused is Asma Begum (38) . She is the wife of Shah Alam Khan of Purba Rasti area of Madaripur Sadar Upazila.

According to Madaripur District Police sources, a police team led by the officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station conducted a special operation in the Sadar Police Station area under the direction of Superintendent of Police Md. Habibur Rahman . At one stage of the operation, Asma Begum, a fugitive accused in a human trafficking case, was arrested in the Panchkhola Jajira area.

Police said that Asma Begum had been absconding for a long time in the related case. Based on secret information, a raid was conducted after identifying her location. Later, she was arrested and taken to the police station.

Madaripur Police Superintendent Md. Habibur Rahman highlighted various aspects of the district police's ongoing special operation in a press briefing with journalists on Friday (August 14) at around 5 pm. He said that the district police's operation is being conducted regularly to control crime and maintain the law and order situation.

The police also said that surveillance and operations are continuing to bring those involved in serious crimes like human trafficking to justice. At the same time, strict action is being taken against those involved in murder, drugs, terrorism, juvenile gangs, warranted suspects and other crimes.

Police said further legal action is underway in the related human trafficking case against the arrested Asma Begum.

The district police also said that criminals will not be spared in any way. Regular operations and intelligence activities will continue to maintain law and order situation under control.
