Fraudster gang in name of Jinnah Mumin, stole 5 tons of gold, tricked the police in Moulvibazar

An organized fraud ring has embezzled gold ornaments worth 1.174 million taka from a woman in two separate incidents in Moulvibazar's Baralekha, promising to cure her sick son.
After filing a case in this horrific fraud, Baralekha police have arrested four members of the gang. All the embezzled gold ornaments have been recovered.
The arrested persons are Karbul Nesa (60) of Ahmedpur village in Barolekha upazila, Taj Uddin (45) of Hinanagar village, Bijoy Baidya (48) of Amoil village in Juri upazila, and Ripon Mia (38) of Harirampur village in total.
They were arrested in separate raids in Baralekha and Juri upazilas last Sunday (November 1). After the arrest, embezzled gold ornaments weighing 5.6 annas, 2.2 points were recovered from their custody.
According to the police station, on August 3, an unknown woman called Rokeya Begum of Hinainagar village in Barolekha upazila and said that her sick son could be cured by the so-called Jinn-e-Mumin Huzur. However, for this, some conditions must be met and the matter cannot be disclosed to anyone. She was also threatened that if she disclosed the matter to anyone, her son would be harmed. Believing the woman's words in the hope of her son's recovery, the victim left gold ornaments in a clean bowl on the manhole cover of the deep tubewell behind the house. When she returned two hours later, she found that the gold ornaments were missing.
Later, when the woman called, she was informed that the Jinn Mumin had taken the gold ornaments. Her son would recover within a month and get the gold ornaments back. A few days later, on October 16, the same woman called again and asked her to keep more gold ornaments in the same place. This time, she was threatened that if she did not keep the gold ornaments, her son would go crazy and if she did, all the gold ornaments, including the previous ones, would be returned within an hour. Fearing harm to her son, the victim left the gold ornaments a second time. But this time too, she did not get them.
In this way, a total of 5 bhori 6 annas 2 rati 2 points of gold ornaments were embezzled from the victim in two phases, with an estimated value of 11 lakh 74 thousand 712 taka.
Later, with the help of information technology and intelligence information, the investigating officer of the case, SI Sheikh Kamrul Islam, ASI Prosen Kanti Das, ASI Santosh Kumar Biswas and the accompanying force conducted a raid and first arrested Korbul Nesa and Taj Uddin from Ahmedpur and Hinainagar areas of Barolekha upazila. Based on the information provided by them, a raid was conducted in the Juri police station area and Bijoy Vaidya and Ripon Mia were arrested.
During this time, the embezzled gold ornaments were recovered from them. The recovered items included 1 sitahar, 2 pairs of earrings and 1 ring. The victim himself identified the recovered gold ornaments.
Barolekha Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Obaidul Haque said that the four arrested members of the fraud gang have already been sent to court. Besides, the investigation into the case is also continuing.
