Foreigner pistol, bullets seized in Ashulia, one arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested a man with a foreign-made pistol and three rounds of ammunition during a raid at a residential building in Ashulia on Tuesday afternoon.
The raid was conducted in a flat of a three-storey building located in the Eastern Housing area of Jamgora, Ashulia. The firearm and ammunition were recovered from underneath a mattress in the bedroom.
The arrestee has been identified as Md. Masud, son of Hazrat Ali, a resident of Hatouria village under Bera Police Station in Pabna district.
According to Major Jalis Mahmud Khan, Company Commander of RAB-4 (CPC-2), the operation was carried out based on secret intelligence. In addition to the pistol and bullets, several locally-made weapons were also recovered during the raid.
RAB officials stated that Masud is an active member of an organized criminal group. He had allegedly kept the weapons in his possession to carry out acts of violence. Legal action under the Arms Act is currently underway.
