News of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, one of the prominent sons of northern Bangladesh, becoming the President and Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed being entrusted with the responsibility of Acting Secretary General of the BNP has sparked joy and enthusiasm among BNP leaders, activists and supporters in Kurigram.

At 4:30 pm on Friday, a huge joy rally was brought out from the Kurigram District BNP office, adjacent to the Central Eidgah Field in Sabujpara. The procession passed through Ghoshpara, the Central Shaheed Minar, Poura Bazar and other important areas of the town before ending with a rally at Kurigram College More.

Speakers at the rally included District BNP Convener Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Member Secretary Sohel Hossain Kaykobad, Senior Joint Convener Professor Shafiqul Islam Bebu, Joint Convener Professor Hasibul Rahman Hasib, former District BNP General Secretary Omar Faruk, former municipal mayor Abu Bakar Siddique, District BNP Convener Committee member and journalist Saiyed Ahmed Babu, Dr. Md. Yunus Ali, Public Prosecutor Adv Bazlur Rashid, Md. Idris Ali and others.

Among others, District Jubo Dal Acting President Nasim Parvez Tara, General Secretary Nadim Ahmed, District Chhatra Dal President Amimul Ehsan, General Secretary Hasan Zubayer Himel, District Chhatra Dal President Bipul, General Secretary Sohel Rana, Swechhasebak Dal President Idris Ali, General Secretary Abdullah Al Arman and a large number of leaders and activists of various affiliated and associate organizations were present.

The leaders and activists expressed their enthusiasm over Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir being elected President and thanked the Prime Minister. They also described Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed receiving an important responsibility in the BNP as a matter of pride for the people of Kurigram, as he is a son of the district.

Earlier, on Thursday night, sweets were distributed among pedestrians at different locations in Kurigram town following the news of Rizvi Ahmed receiving the new responsibility.

The sweet distribution was organized on the initiative of journalist Saiyed Ahmed Babu, a member of the Kurigram District BNP Convener Committee and General Secretary of the District Development and Implementation Council.

District BNP member Alhaj Omar Faruk, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Azharul Islam Manu, Advocate Ashraf Ali, Idris Ali, Rezaul Karim Reza, Abu Darda Helal, Prof Golam Faruk, Prof Al Hossainuzzaman, Sramik Dal leaders Azizul Haque and Rejon Sarker, Jubo Dal leader Masud Rana Babu, along with leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations, were present during the programme.

During the sweet distribution, BNP leaders and activists wished Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed success in his new responsibility and expressed hope that the BNP would become more organized and stronger under his leadership.
