The University of Dhaka Day will  celebrated on July 1, 2025. This year, the theme of the celebration is “University of Dhaka in Building an Equitable and Inclusive Society.

 A meeting was held at the Professor  Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom adjacent to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, where various programs were adopted to mark the day on Tuesday . The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Prof  Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan.

It is mentioned  that the academic activities of the University of Dhaka began on July 1, 1921.

 Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Associate Prof  Saifuddin Ahmed, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, along with deans of various faculties, provosts of different halls, members of the Senate and Syndicate, department chairpersons, and heads of offices.

According to the decisions taken in the meeting, on July 1, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., teachers, students, officers, and staff will gather at the Smriti Chironton Chattar adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor’s building. From there, a colorful procession led by Vice-Chancellor Prof  Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan will begin at 9:45 a.m. The procession will conclude at the Pigeon Circle in front of the TSC. 

At 10:00 a.m., the national flag, the University of Dhaka flag, and hall flags will be hoisted at the Pigeon Circle. During the ceremony, the national anthem, the University of Dhaka theme song, and an inaugural song will be performed.

At 10:30 a.m., a discussion session titled “University of Dhaka in Building an Equitable and Inclusive Society” will be held at the TSC Auditorium, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof  Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan.

To mark the occasion, a special commemorative publication will be released. Additionally, arches will be erected at various entrances of the university, and important buildings and installations will be decorated with lights.
