Discussion, cultural program on closing day at Rabindranath Tagore's Rabindranath Memorial Museum in Rupsha.

On the occasion of the 164th birth anniversary of the world poet Rabindranath Tagore, a discussion meeting and cultural program were held on the closing day of the three-day program at the Rabindranath Tagore's former husband's residence in Pithabhog village of Ghatbhog Union on Saturday at 4:30 pm.
 
Speaking as the chief guest at the program, Khulna Additional Divisional Commissioner (Education and ICT) Debprasad Pal said that Rabindranath was a poet of humanity. Inspired by his love for humanity, he donated all the money of his Nobel Prize to the Agricultural Bank for human service. He was a poet of peace. The message of peace reached the world through his writings. Rabindranath Tagore grew up in a non-communal manner from his youth. That is why service to people was his supreme religion. He also said that in 1905, Rabindranath Tagore was involved in the anti-partition movement of Bengal. In addition, he was awarded the title of 'Knight' by the British government in 1915. But in 1919, he gave up that title in protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He always thought about the development of the people of rural Bengal. These extraordinary thoughts of his were reflected in his writings. That is why the world poet established an organization called Sriniketan for rural development in 1921. World poet Rabindranath Tagore worked in human service until his death.
The main discussant on the subject of Rabindranath and humanity was Professor Hosne Ara of the Bengali Department of Dhaka University.
 
Moumita Roy, Associate Professor of the Bengali Department of Khulna University, spoke as an invited guest under the chairmanship of Rupsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Akash Kumar Kundu. Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Apratim Kumar Chakraborty gave the welcome speech at the meeting.
Special guests included Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Khulna District Commissioner's Office Saifunnahar, DGM of Narayanganj Rural Electricity Syeda Farzana Yasmin.
Under the direction of Rupsa Upazila Education Officer Md. Aminul Islam and former General Secretary of Rupsa Press Club Krishna Gopal Sen, Social Service Officer Rakibul Islam Tarafdar, Rural Development Officer Tarek Iqbal Aziz, Fakirhat Project Implementation Officer Imrul Kayes, Rupsa Upazila Academic Supervisor Nityananda Mondal, Rupsa Rural Electricity AGM MA Halim Khan, Youth Development Officer Sheikh Bazlur Rahman, Assistant Programmer Imran Hossain.
 
Present at the event were Ajit Sarkar, acting principal of Kazdia Government Higher Secondary School, GM Asaduzzaman, president of the Upazila Press Club, SM Amjad Hossain, professor of Arshad Ali and Saburennasha College, Professor Al Mamun Sarkar, Gopal Chandra Kushari, descendant of Rabindranath Tagore, cultural personality Engineer Sukhen Roy, acting chairman of Ghatbhog Union Parishad Azizul Islam Nandu, UP member Shafiqul Islam, head teachers Ashok Kumar Majumder, Krishnapada Roy, Saroj Kumar Halder, Haider Ali, Haripada Majumder, etc.
