Mohammad Firoz Khan, General Secretary of BNP's Ward No. 5 (Mohra) in Chattogram, was expelled from his post after filing a case alleging desecration of the national flag.
He filed the case following an incident where a saffron flag of ISKCON, representing the Hindu faith, was reportedly raised over the Liberation Monument at the New Market intersection in Chattogram.
The removal was confirmed in a press release issued on Friday (November 1) by Chattogram Metropolitan BNP’s Chandgaon Thana Branch President Mohammad Azam and Acting General Secretary Md. Gias Uddin Bhuiyan. Copies of the statement were also sent to the convenor and member secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan BNP.
On Thursday night, Firoz Khan filed the case at the local police station, naming Chandan Kumar Dhar, also known as Chimmo Krishna Das Brahmachari, the Organizational Secretary of ISKCON’s Chattogram division, as the primary accused.
The case additionally listed 19 individuals by name and included 15–20 unidentified persons. Charges were brought under several sections, including sedition, incitement to riot, and conspiracy.
