Boundary walls have been built and sands filling works are going on land of more than 400 farmer families along with houses without paying land price in Panchjunia village at Ashuganj Thermal Power Ststion in Kalapara, it is widely alleged.
Even if they ask for the due wages of the workers for a long time , they file a case of theft of rods and cement in the name of the workers and leave the area. The people of the area expressed their anger.
1320- megawatt Payra Power Generation plant and another 1320- megawatt RPCL Power Generation plant on crop lands in Dhankhali, the same union of Kalapara upazila, are waiting to go into production in December.
The third power generating station is Ashuganj Thermal Power Project of 1320- megawatts.
Currently, this power generation plant is being built on about 1500 acres of land in Panchjunia and Dhankhali Mouja. Four hundred families living here started the work of spreading sand through the boundary embankment without making Taka Parishad. Many have demolished their houses and shifted them to other places with the promise of getting money. Those who had nowhere to go could not go. At that time, Awami League showed its power and threw sand with a dredger. Many houses were covered by mud.
If you go to the surface, you can still see many houses buried under the sand. The journalist came and reported their complaint. Said about the complaint of boundary construction workers of not getting money for a month. Mr. Riazul Islam of Mridha Traders said, "We supply bricks and sand to Dhankhali and Panchjunia Mauza 1320 -MW, Ashuganj Power Plant, Bangladesh and after a week they are supposed to execute the contract but they have not executed the contract even after 1 month and 2 days.
The company's responsible side engineerOmar Farooq and Mo.Roni gave me the work permit on Whatsapp. When I asked for the hard copy of the work permit and the contract letter, they did not give it today, saying that they would give it tomorrow, on the contrary, they threatened me in various ways and did not pay the bill even though the said work permit was supposed to pay the bill within 20 days.
At present they owe Tk 473400. Not giving that. In addition, an extortion case has been filed against Kalapara police station by mentioning the names of three people.
Boundary wall construction workers Sardar Md. Nazrul Biswas said, my worker owes a total of 775 rupees. Although the worker's bill is to be paid in a week, the company's responsible side engineer said. Omar Farooq and Md. Ronnie is not paying the bill. When Bill asks for money, he says he will give it today and tomorrow.
Al Mamun, a member of that area, said that we also want the country to develop. No work can be done without the money council of the farmers of the area.
The investigating officer of the case Kalapara police station SI Mo Zahirul Islam said that two written complaints have been received from both parties, the investigation is ongoing. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
In this regard, the side engineer of PNF Corporation Omar Farooq, denied the existence of complaints against them and said that the authority of Ashuganj Thermal Power Station will pay the due compensation for farmers' house . We have no responsibility here.
