
Coast Guard provides free medical services, launches awareness program in Mongla

The Bangladesh Coast Guard organized a free medical camp and public awareness program in Mongla under the initiative "Tarunner Utsab 2025", as part of its ongoing commitment to support the coastal and riverine communities on Thursday evening.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid said that since its inception, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has consistently supported underprivileged communities by providing essential services, particularly medical assistance through various campaigns.
In continuation of this humanitarian effort, the Bangladesh Coast Guard West Zone conducted a free medical camp from 10 AM to 1 PM on May 22 in the Joymonighol area of Mongla Thana, Bagerhat. Over 200 underprivileged individuals, including children, received free medical checkups and necessary medicines. The camp was led by Medical Officer Surgeon Lt. Raihanul Jannah, AMC.
In addition to the medical services, the Coast Guard also conducted a public awareness session for local fishermen and residents. The topics included prevention of illegal fishing practices, drug and human trafficking, the protection of forest resources, and safety of vessels and waterways.
The event was attended by representatives from the local administration, forest department, public representatives, and the general public.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding both the people and resources of the coastal regions through such community-focused initiatives.
