Coast Guard distributes relief among flood-hit families in Maheshkhali
Cox’s Bazar Correspondent
Bangladesh Coast Guard has distributed relief among flood-affected families in Maheshkhali under Cox's Bazar on Sunday morning.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid provided this information in a press release.
Since its establishment, Bangladesh Coast Guard has been extending support to underprivileged people in disaster response and socio-economic development in coastal and riverine areas.
At the same time, it has been working tirelessly to ensure peace, order, and public safety in the coastal regions. Due to a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, tidal water flooded the low-lying areas of the island upazila Maheshkhali in Cox's Bazar, leaving the locals waterlogged. On Saturday, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, under Coast Guard East Zone, BCG Station Maheshkhali distributed relief and dry food among 135 poor and helpless families in the flood-affected areas of Kutubjum, Matarbari, and Sonadia under Maheshkhali upazila.
Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such public service activities in the future as well.
