Child killed, 100 houses gutted in a Rohingya camp fire

A five-year-old child was killed and 100 houses were burnt in a fire that broke out at a Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Friday.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The fire erupted at Nayapara Mouchani camp (Block G) around 12am and spread soon, said Mohammad Kawsar Shikdar, commanding officer and additional deputy inspector general of Armed Police Battalion-16.
On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one hour of hectic effort around 1am.
Later, the police recovered the charred body of the child.
Around 100 houses were burnt into ashes during the fire, he said.
However, what caused the fire could not be known immediately.
