Child dies after being crushed by bus in Jibannagar

A child named Hasibur Rahman died after being crushed by a passenger bus in Jibannagar, Chuadanga. The incident occurred near the upazila's Monoharpur bus stand around 4:30 pm on Thursday.
The deceased Hasibur Rahman is the son of Milan Mallick of the same area. The matter was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jibannagar Police Station Mamun Hossain Biswas.
Eyewitnesses said that while crossing the road around 4:30 pm, a bus numbered Moulvibazar J 11-0182 of Shapla Paribahan, heading towards Chuadanga from Jibannagar, hit Hasibur. When locals chased the bus, the driver left the bus at a filling station in Santospur and fled.
Later, locals rescued Hasibur in a seriously injured condition and took him to the Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex. As his condition was critical, the doctor on duty at the emergency department referred him to Jessore Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Baby Habibur died on the way there.
OC of Jibannagar Police Station Mamun Hossain Biswas said, "A team of ours immediately went to the spot. The driver fled after abandoning the bus. Legal action will be taken if the family of the deceased files a complaint."
