BNP leaders accused in Laksham’s brutal murder of Chhatra League leader Anik

The brutal murder of Anik, a Chhatra League leader from Laksham Municipality, Cumilla, has sparked outrage among locals as new details emerge.
According to sources, ahead of the January 7, 2024, national election, the local Awami League allegedly devised a plan to disrupt BNP’s activities and intimidate its leaders and activists in Laksham, forcing many to flee their homes. As part of this, Chhatra League and Juba League reportedly unleashed chaos and violence across Laksham.
On June 21, 2023, a clash between two Chhatra League factions in the South Laksham Bypass area left Anik, a leader of one faction, slightly injured. He was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka for treatment but died dramatically under mysterious circumstances. Locals allege this death was a staged conspiracy by Awami League to frame BNP leaders. Sources claim that, instead of ensuring a safe environment for treatment, Chhatra League operatives compromised the hospital’s security, orchestrating Anik’s death in a cruel and barbaric manner. This incident shocked the entire Laksham community, with suspicions pointing to the involvement of senior Awami League leaders.
