Beating of elderly man by Sramik Dal leader alleged in Tongibari

An allegation has been made against Roni Bepari, the general secretary of the Upazila Sramik Dal of beating an elderly man in Munshiganj on the pretext of making a bad proposal at Tongibari.
Roni is the son of the deceased Haider Ali Bepari of Dhipur Union in Tongibari Upazila. The victim, Ismail Khan, filed a written complaint with the Tongibari Police Station regarding the beating.
Locals said, last Sunday Chamia Akhter, the wife of Md. Nayan, a resident of the shelter center in Rautbhog village of Dhipur Union in the upazila, asked her neighbor Ismail Khan (70) for 3,000 taka. Then Ismail Khan told Chamia that he could not pay the previous dues, so how could he pay if he took the money again.
Later, Chamia said that if he could not pay the money, would he have a body? After hearing this, Ismail Khan left the scene in shame. Then, he falsely accused Ismail Khan of a conspiracy and informed Zubair, the cousin of Chamia's husband, and Roni Bepari, the general secretary of the Upazila Sramik Dal, who went to the area and beat up the old man Ismail Khan. At that time, they also beat up the neighbors Alamgir and Dila who came to protect the old man. When the villagers chased the old man after beating him and taking him away on a motorcycle, the Upazila Sramik Dal leader Roni Bepari and Zubair fled. Later, the locals rescued the old man and admitted him to the Tongibari Health Complex. In this regard, the old man Ismail Khan said, "My neighbor Nayan's wife used to come to our house often to take vegetables, sometimes she would give money and sometimes she would not give it.
Last Sunday, when she asked me for 3 thousand taka as a gift, I did not give her the money and falsely accused me. Later, 2 people from Dhipur came and asked me for 2 lakh taka." When I refused to pay the ransom, they beat me up a lot. After the beating, I went to the hospital twice and did not receive treatment. I want justice for the torture that was done to me.
In this regard, accused Roni Bepari said, I went to the spot as a judge and asked Ismail for forgiveness by slapping him two or four times.
Tongibari Police Station OC Md. Mohidul Islam said, a complaint has been filed with Tongibari Police Station in this incident and action will be taken after investigation.
