Financial grant cheques were distributed among sick and bedridden heroic freedom fighters in Barguna on Wednesday to support their medical treatment.

The distribution ceremony was held at 11:00 AM at the Payra Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner's office, under the overall supervision of the District Administration and organized by the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Barguna District Unit Command.

Barguna Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Ms. Taslima Akter attended the program as the chief guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Animesh Biswas was present as the special guest. The event also drew notable local figures, including Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad District Unit Command Convener Md. Yousuf Ali Mridha, Joint Convener Alhaj A.B.M. Abdul Barek, and Acting Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Md. Yousuf Ali, alongside numerous local freedom fighters and their families.

During the ceremony, a total financial grant of Tk 2.36 lakh was distributed among 29 sick and bedridden freedom fighters and their families from different upazilas of the district. Additionally, as part of the district administration's humanitarian assistance initiative, essential food items were handed over to four insolvent freedom fighters and their families.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Taslima Akter stated that freedom fighters are the greatest sons of the soil whose extraordinary sacrifices and contributions paved the way for Bangladesh's independence. She added that ensuring proper medical care for ailing and bedridden freedom fighters is a moral responsibility for everyone, emphasizing that the district administration remains deeply committed to working sincerely for their welfare.

The financial cheques and food relief packages were formally handed over to the beneficiaries at the conclusion of the event.
