Defying adverse weather conditions, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) celebrated its 48th founding anniversary in Barguna on Tuesday with colorful and spirited programs.

The day's events commenced at 11:00 AM at the district BNP office with the hoisting of the national and party flags. Party leaders and activists later placed floral wreaths at the portrait of the party's founder, martyred President Ziaur Rahman.

Following the tribute, the district BNP brought out a vibrant rally that paraded through the main thoroughfares of the town before concluding in front of Mizan Tower, where a street rally was held.

District BNP Convener and District Council Administrator Nazrul Islam Mollah addressed the gathering as the chief guest. The event also featured notable speeches by District BNP Member Secretary S.M. Humayun Hasan Shaheen, Senior Joint Convener Fazlul Haque Master, and former district organizing secretary and chairman of Sadar upazila's No. 10 union, Shafiquzzaman Mahfuz.

In his address, Member Secretary S.M. Humayun Hasan Shaheen said, "On this founding anniversary, we must take an oath to further accelerate the ongoing movement to restore voting rights and democracy."

Expressing gratitude to the participants, District BNP Convener Nazrul Islam Mollah remarked, "The spontaneous participation of leaders and activists from remote areas like Amtali and Taltali is our greatest strength. It proves that the grassroots BNP remains united and indomitable. Setting aside all differences, unity will be our path to victory, and no conspiracy can crack our solidarity."

Leaders and activists from district and upazila tiers, alongside municipal BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and other affiliated and associate organizations, turned out in large numbers for the anniversary program.

The concluding segment of the event featured a special munajat seeking peace, prosperity, and welfare for the nation, alongside prayers for the eternal salvation of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, and other departed party leaders and activists.
