AL leader allegedly embezzled Tk 11 lakh in Lalmonirhat

ATM Musa Shamim, President of the Tushbhandar Sub Registry Office’s Document Writers Association and a Awami League leader, is accused of embezzling 11 lakh taka from the association's funds in Kaliganj. General document writers have filed a written complaint against him at the Sub Registry Office. According to members, Shamim collected illegal fees of 200 taka per document for years. Of the 18 lac taka collected from members' savings, only 700,000 was distributed during festivals, while the remaining 11 lac is alleged to have been stolen by Shamim. Members also accuse him of physical abuse, misuse of power, and creating fake donors to issue illegal documents. Shamim denied the allegations, saying, "A losing group in the association’s election is spreading false accusations against me. The money was spent on development work with members’ consent." Arif Istiaq, the Sub-Registrar of Tushbhandar, confirmed that the complaint has been received, and an investigation will be conducted soon.
