14 Bangladeshis pushed in Kulaura border identified

Fourteen people have been pushed into Bangladesh through the border at Kulaura in Moulvibazar by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

 Later, a patrol team from the Muraichhara camp of Srimangal 46-BGB Battalion, with the help of locals, detained them. The push-in took place on Thursday at 10 AM through the Muraichhara border area of the upazila. The BGB later confirmed their identities.

Among the detainees are four men, six women, and four children. The detained individuals are:
Md. Mofizul Islam (45) from Nageshwari Police Station in Kurigram district, his wife Mallika (40), their daughter Mim (19), and infant Mumin (4 months); Jarina Khatun (75) and Jalil Mia (45) from Phulbari Police Station, Jalil’s wife Kajoli (40), their son Habib (22), Isha Mia Ali (20), and Kajol (11) Afsana (20), daughter of deceased Anwarul from the same area; Isha Mia’s wife Alfina (18); Shahina (7), daughter of Shahin Mia and Halim (1), the infant son of Habib.

Kulaura Police Station OC Md. Golam Apser said, “We are aware of the push-in of 14 individuals at the border. Their identities have been confirmed, and they are all Bangladeshi citizens. They are currently in BGB custody.”

Lieutenant Colonel A.S.M. Zakaria, Commander of Srimangal-46 BGB said,  the identities of the 14 detainees have been verified and they will soon be handed over to the police.

So far, the total number of people detained in Moulvibazar district has reached 117.
