UGC's initiative to involve Bangladeshi teachers, researchers working abroad in country's higher education programs

The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh is taking an initiative to involve Bangladeshi and international teachers and researchers working abroad in education and research activities at the country's universities on a virtual platform through digital transformation.
UGC Chairman Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed gave this information while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled 'BDREN-Cambridge University Press Collaboration: Pathway Towards Global Knowledge' organized at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday.
He said, "To reduce the learning gap in higher education and ensure equal opportunities in education and research, universities will be equipped with high-speed internet connectivity, free Wi-Fi across campuses, smart classrooms, digital libraries, and access to international research databases and e-resources. The commission has set a target of implementing these activities within the next two years."
Prof Mamun Ahmed said that the UGC, Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BDREN) and the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEET) project will jointly implement this program. Under this, 180 universities of the country will be connected to an integrated digital ecosystem step by step.
UGC ICT Director Md. Omar Farooq, HIT Project Director Prof Dr. Asaduzzaman, Cambridge University Press National Head Debratam Bhattacharya and Head of Publishing Qudsia Ahmed spoke at the event.
