UNO conference to be held for first time

The first-ever Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) conference is going to be held in the country: 2026.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate it. The conference is likely to be organized on December 1 at the China Friendship Conference Center in the capital.
According to sources from the Cabinet Division, this conference will be held on the model of the Cabinet Division, which organizes the Deputy Commissioner Conference every year.
Upazila Executive Officers receive direct instructions on government policy-making issues, development programs and implementation of government priority programs, and discuss existing problems and possibilities in providing citizen services and implementing development activities at the upazila level.
It is learned that in addition to coordinating upazila development activities, the conference will discuss issues related to the implementation of government priority programs, including accelerating government programs and development activities, land management, maintaining law and order, strengthening local government institutions including upazila parishads and union parishads, disaster management, relief and rehabilitation programs, construction and renovation of rural infrastructure, poverty alleviation programs, price control, agricultural development, implementation of social security programs, and protection of religious harmony.
In addition, it is reported that the senior secretaries or secretaries of the Local Government Division, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Land, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Ministry of Health Services, Ministry of Social Welfare and Ministry of Religious Affairs will provide direct guidance at the conference on the obstacles faced by UNOs while performing their duties at the field level.
