Coast Guard rescues 10 fishermen stranded in deep sea off St. Martin's

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has successfully rescued 10 fishermen alive after their fishing trawler suffered a mechanical breakdown and was left drifting helplessly in the deep sea northwest of St. Martin's Island.
The successful operation was confirmed late Monday night by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon.
According to official sources, the fishing boat, named FB Samiha, had set sail into the Bay of Bengal from the Mistri Para Ghat on Shahpori Island in Teknaf upazila on Thursday for a routine fishing expedition. After four days at sea, the vessel encountered severe mechanical trouble at around 9:00 AM on Monday, causing its engine to fail completely and leaving the crew stranded in treacherous deep waters.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the boat's skipper managed to establish mobile network connectivity and contacted the Coast Guard's Shahpori Outpost around 1:00 PM, urgently requesting emergency assistance.
Upon receiving the distress call, a specialized rescue team from the Shahpori outpost immediately mobilized and launched a targeted search operation in the specified maritime zone. The team successfully located the disabled trawler, rescued all 10 distressed fishermen, and brought them back to safety. The rescuees were immediately provided with primary medical care, food, and other necessary emergency assistance.
The rescued fishermen and their fishing boat were subsequently handed over to the rightful owners in good health.
