Two youths arrested for involvement in sensational Majeda murder in Netrakona

Police arrested two youths on charges of involvement in the brutal murder of Majeda Begum (52) in the Arambagh area of the district town of Netrokona.
The arrested are Arian Ahmed Rajib (22), son of Md. Shahid of Hasanoagaon village of Kalmakanda upazila of Netrokona district, and Saun bin Toha Abdullah (15), son of Nurul Islam of Chhota Bazar area of the district town.
A press release sent from the Superintendent of Police Office said that Majeda Begum, wife of the deceased Arman Ali of Arambagh area of the district town, lived alone in this house as she had no husband or son. Her only daughter Faria Sultana lives in the Master Bari area of Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district, where her husband works.
On March 20, between 10 am and 4 pm, miscreants strangled Majeda Begum to death in her own house and looted 15 thousand taka, two mobile phones and earrings from her. In this incident, Faria Sultana, daughter of the deceased Majeda Begum, filed a murder case with Netrokona Model Police Station on March 25, accusing unknown persons.
In the wake of the case, a special team of the District Detective Branch (DB) police and the Netrokona Model Police Station, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud PPM, started an investigation. During the investigation, a special operation using modern information technology was conducted and a Samsung M-14 model mobile phone stolen from Majeda Begum was recovered from Sreepur, Gazipur. Later, on April 3, based on the mobile phone, Rajib and Abdullah, involved in the murder, were arrested from the Chhota Bazar area of Netrokona Sadar Upazila. At that time, seven thousand taka looted from them was recovered.
The press release also mentioned that during the initial interrogation, the arrested confessed to strangling Majeda Begum and looting cash, mobile phone and earrings An investigation is underway to determine whether anyone else was involved in the murder, and efforts are underway to recover the remaining looted items.
